This summer we ran our first writing intensive and the feedback was outstanding. We are excited to present this next Writing Intensive focusing on one our most commonly received questions: First Draft Done - Now What?

We're offering six days of presentations to give you the tools to advance your craft and practice. This Writing Intensive will feature daily workshops from award-winning authors and publishers on topics such as:

  • Beta & Sensitivity Readers
  • Working with Editors
  • Pre-Publication Visibility
  • Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
  • The Art of Pitching
  • Presenting Like a Pro
  • and more


SCHEDULE & SESSION DETAILS

The sessions will be accompanied by suggested exercises, with an opportunities to connect and discuss your learnings and experiences with fellow participants over the week.

This event is open to writers of all skill levels from anywhere around the world. While we operate from beautiful British Columbia, we are excited to welcome any participants who are interested in learning more about this important phase in any writing project.

Most sessions will be recorded and available to registrants for a month after the event.

All sessions will occur either at 11AM or 1PM over Zoom and will be approximately an hour in length. The full schedule is coming soon!

Oh, and did we mention the door prize? One lucky participant will receive a special prize from our friends at the Writers Studio at Simon Frasier University. Register before October 31st to qualify. Full details available soon.

Things to know so that you have the most enjoyable experience:

  • Sessions will run for approximately 1 hour each. On occasion, Q&A may push us over, but if time restraints prevent you from staying, no one will be offended if you have to duck out before we are done.
  • The Zoom room will open approximately 5 minutes before each session.
  • We typically allow for 2-3 minutes at the start of each session so that anyone experiencing technical challenges can still join us without missing anything.
  • We recommend you open zoom a bit early for the first session as there have been some software updates from zoom recently that can take a few minutes to configure. (This is most important for people who have not used zoom in a while)
  • All sessions except discussion events will be recorded.
  • Links to the recordings will be sent out approximately 2 days after the last session of the Writing Intensive (November 27th)
  • Recordings will be available to you for 1 month.
  • Each session is independent from the other sessions, so if you miss one, you will not be left behind.
  • The presenters have prepared handouts that will be sent out over the week. We do this to avoid people feeling like they need to ask for slides.
  • We want everyone to enjoy themselves and to leave each session feeling inspired.
