It is with great excitement that the Federation of BC Writers announces the Long List for our Literary Contests. We know the results took a lot longer than we had hoped and for that reason, we want to share our process. This year, we consolidated all of our different contests into one larger event. The Federation was able to spread the word about the contest much more effectively and to that end, we had more than triple our anticipated entries. Despite this, we wanted to make certain that all entries got a fair chance. Every single piece that was submitted was first vetted for contest rules; we then sent all qualifying entries to our readers who used a marking metric to evaluate each piece. From there, the long list was generated which was sent to our Judges. The Judges, having the metrics used for the reading handy, set out to evaluate the long list, identify a short list, a runner up, and the winner in each category. We are so excited to share the results with you today. The overall calibre of the entries was high and judging was not easy. All of you who submitted should be very proud of your work. Without further ado, the Federation of BC Writers is pleased to share the Long List Congratulations everyone, Bryan Mortensen Executive Director Federation of BC Writers |
