As part of the Federation of BC Writers’ mission to uplift diverse voices and share the stories of marginalised people, we are launching an Emerging Writer Mentorship Initiative. We are actively seeking participants from equity-seeking groups, which may include people of colour, 2SLGBTQ+ folk, Indigenous peoples, and persons with disabilities.
Our vision is to help support writers in reaching the next level of their literary journey. We know how important it is to get initial publishing credits, as many publications require proof of work to be given true consideration—which can create an added burden for people in equity-seeking communities. Our goal is to help participants begin building a body of work for their professional curriculum vitae, as well as develop their skills so they can be successful in landing future publication opportunities.

The FBCW Emerging Writer Mentorship Program is made possible by funding from TD Connected Communities. We gratefully acknowledge the support of TD Bank. The Federation of British Columbia Writers functions on the unceded and ancestral territories of many Indigenous peoples and cultures. As champions of language, we cherish the oral and written traditions of the indigenous peoples of this land. We commit to uplift the voices and stories of equity-seeking peoples and communities wherever we work. |
