Shanon Sinn lives on the traditional territory of the WSÁNEĆ (Saanich), lək̓ʷəŋən (Songhees), and Wyomlith (Esquimalt) Nations. Shanon acknowledges he is a guest on this land, as well as a guest on the territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht Nation where he stays part time in Tofino.
He is the author of 'The Haunting of Vancouver Island', several shorter works of fiction and nonfiction, and is the editor and publisher of 'Black Cat' - a collection of eerie tales set in BC's Pacific Northwest. 'The Haunting of British Columbia: Sea Lore and Ghost Stories' has been his research and writing focus for several years while he simultaneously attended school and illustrated comics.
Shanon earned his Comics and Graphic Novels certificate in April 2024 from Camosun College in Victoria, BC. He has a writing degree from Vancouver Island University where he was awarded the Barry Broadfoot Award for Journalism and the Gisele Merlet Creative Writing Award. His study focus at VIU was on Indigenous topics, which included Elder teachings, an Elder internship, and attending field school at the University of Fairbanks in Alaska where he was taught protocol for recording oral stories.
Shanon Sinn is also a Member of The Writers' Union of Canada (TWUC) and is a Greater Vancouver Horror Writers Association (HWA) Chapter Member. He was a host for Folklore Thursday on Twitter for over four years and for Wyrd Wednesday for one year.
He lives with chronic, non-visible disabilities including pervasive nerve damage.
