Stephen Collis is the author of a dozen books of poetry and prose, including The Commons (Talonbooks 2008), the BC Book Prize winning On the Material (Talonbooks 2010), Once in Blockadia (Talonbooks 2016) and Almost Islands: Phyllis Webb and the Pursuit of the Unwritten (Talonbooks 2018). In 2019 he was awarded the Latner Writers’ Trust of Canada Poetry Prize in recognition of his body of work. In 2021 Talonbooks will publish A History of the Theories of Rain. He lives near Vancouver, on unceded Coast Salish Territory, and teaches poetry and poetics at Simon Fraser University.
Jen Currin is the author of Hider/Seeker: Stories, which was named a Globe and Mail top 100 book of 2018. Jen has also published four poetry collections, including The Inquisition Yours, winner of the 2011 Audre Lorde Award for Lesbian Poetry, and School (2014), a finalist for three awards. Jen lives on the unceded territories of the Qayqayt, Musqueam, and Kwantlen Nations (New Westminster, BC), and teaches writing at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Poet, novelist and musician Heather Haley pushes boundaries by creatively integrating disciplines, genres and media. Her writing has appeared in a variety of journals and anthologies, she was Poetry Editor for the LA Weekly and publisher of the Edgewise Cafe, one of Canada’s first electronic literary magazines. Haley has directed numerous videopoems, official selections at dozens of international film festivals. Renowned as an engaging performer, she’s toured Canada, the U.S and Europe in support of two critically acclaimed AURAL Heather CDs of spoken word song, Princess Nut and Surfing Season. She is the author of poetry collections Sideways, Three Blocks West of Wonderland, Skookum Raven and debut novel, The Town Slut's Daughter, currently being adapted to the stage.
Chelene Knight is the author of the Braided Skin and the memoir Dear Current Occupant, winner of the 2018 Vancouver Book Award, and long-listed for the George Ryga Award for Social Awareness in Literature. Her essays have appeared in multiple Canadian and American literary journals, plus the Globe and Mail, the Walrus, and the Toronto Star. Her work is anthologized in Making Room, Love Me True, Sustenance, The Summer Book, and Black Writers Matter, winner of the 2020 Saskatchewan Book Award. Knight was the previous managing editor at Room magazine, and the previous festival director for the Growing Room Festival in Vancouver. She is now CEO of her own literary studio,Breathing Space Creative and she works as an associate literary agent with Transatlantic Agency. Chelene teaches part time at the University of Toronto.
Host Fiona Tinwei Lam has authored three books of poetry, including her most recent collection, Odes & Laments, as well as a children’s book about dealing with grief, The Rainbow Rocket. She edited The Bright Well: Contemporary Canadian Poems on Facing Cancer, and has co-edited two nonfiction anthologies. Her poems have thrice appeared on Poetry in Transit. Her prose and poetry appear in more than 35 anthologies, including The Best Canadian Poetry (2010 and 2020 editions) and Forcefield: 77 Women Poets of BC.
