Join us Saturday, March 18th at 7pm for The Write Stuff - Writing the Other Side with Lyndsie Bourgon. This session is part of The Write Stuff new virtual series focused on writing craft in various genres.
To write rich narratives that elicit empathy, writers need to get into the heads and lives of characters they might disagree with. In this conversation we'll explore the sometimes murky area between truth and honesty, and discuss methods for writing stories from all angles, including oral history interviews, archival research, and fieldwork.
Lyndsie Bourgon is a writer, oral historian, and 2018 National Geographic Explorer. Her work focuses on the intersections of environment, history, and identity, and has appeared in publications including The Atlantic, the Guardian, Hazlitt, and National Geographic, among other publications. Her first book, TREE THIEVES: CRIME AND SURVIVAL IN NORTH AMERICA'S WOODS, was published in June 2022, and was a New York Times editors' choice. She lives in Clearwater, BC.
