Program/Event General Descriptions

Intensives

The Federation of BC Writers holds week-long writing intensives throughout the year. In 2026, we plan to offer intensives on wide-ranging subjects including memoir, novel-writing, writing for YA/NA audiences, editing, marketing, and dramatic writing (for stage and screen). That said, we're always on the lookout for new and exciting topics in writing and publishing, so you needn't limit yourself to proposals related to these topics. Intensive sessions last one hour and are held over Zoom.

Webinars

These general workshops cover any and all writerly topics. If you have a workshop that is 1.5 hours long and has an interesting take or approach to writing, this is the best place to pitch it. Sessions are 1.5 hours in length.

Young Writers Series

Designed to inspire youth to write in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and other genres and mediums. These 1.5-hr sessions, with a break in the middle, will take place over Zoom. Sessions are limited to participants from 12 to 21.

Business Writing Series

Designed to support professionals across workplaces and backgrounds, this series will cover a variety of topics to assist with clarity, professionalism, capturing attention, and communicating clearly. If you write emails, develop reports, or draft documents, this series is for you.

This series will provide students with information on citations, research, forming a thesis, writing under pressure, and the unique quirts and expectations of academic writing. Perfect for anyone who has to write a paper!

These 1.5-hr sessions will take place over Zoom.
